S1E8 How to Make Your Values Work for You

Season #1

"You have far more choice in what your values are than we are led to believe"

It took me a while to get to my leadership role the second time around (after kids).  So I refused to quit trying even when I suffered knockbacks and difficult times trying to get to my leadership role. All because of my why. I was determined to make a difference by doing leadership in a way that was going to have a positive effect on my team rather than a negative one – and that was based on my values of fairness and making a difference.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

  1. The importance of knowing your values
  2. How to be more intentional about living in alignment with your values
  3. That you have more control over what your values are than you think Resources: Woomen in Leadership facebook group

Chapter Summaries:

[00:00:42] - If you want to make a positive difference to your life one of the first steps is to identify your values. The second is to take stock of how well you live your life according to your values. When we live in alignment with our values, we have more energy and life satisfaction.

[00:04:22] - Being a leader in itself is not always easy. Unfortunately many people give up trying and convince themselves that they never really wanted to be a leader. It helps in getting to a leadership role to know your why. And underlying your why is your values, your deepest values and your goals that align with those values.

[00:06:34] - There are clues as to how well you are living in alignment with your values. If you feel icky or triggered at the moment, you might be out of alignment with the values behind those feelings and need to look for a solution to bring yourself back into alignment.

[00:08:29] - Rochelle's word for 2022 is "intentional". It is important to live in alignment with your values and to make intentional choices about what your values are, and what you do and don't do based on those values.

[00:14:06] - I invite you to consider what do you value most? I encourage you to get down to your top five values to help decision making and keep you focused. Then ask yourself if you are living your life aligned to those values yet.

[00:14:55] - Join the Women inLeadership Facebook group to continue the conversation about values. Leave a review on the podcast in order to help others to find the show. Until next week, continue to lead the way, her way.
