S2E1 Upgrading your internal operating system with Dr Ryan Gottfredson

Season #2

"Leadership is not something we do, it's something we are. We need to connect to our being and focus on our being maybe even more than we do our doings." - Dr. Ryan Gottfredson

Dr. Ryan Gottfredson is a leadership professor at Cal State Fullerton and has written two books - Success Mindsets and the recently released Elevated Leader. He works with organizations to help them develop their leaders, and focuses on the idea that leadership is not something we do, but something we are.

On this weeks episode he explains the three stages of adult development, which are dependent thinking, independent thinking, and interdependent thinking.

The third level, interdependent thinking, is where adults become focused on contributing to something bigger than themselves and creating value for stakeholders. Leaders at this level focus on purpose, values, and culture, as these are investments that pay dividends in the long run.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

1. The three stages of adult development

2. The difference between upgrading your internal operating system or simply adding another 'app'

3. The differences between Mind 2.0 and Mind 3.0 leaders and how they measure success.
